Recommendations

There are a LOT of resources here and they serve very different purposes. I suggest that you first go to the #Background Articles and Discussions and acquaint yourself with some of the general and instructional technology related background. Then under #Second Life itself download the appropriate client for your OS, sign up and explore Orientation and Help Island; pay special attention to the tutorials. Once you start to feel comfortable, check out the #Second Life Web 2.0 and News (make sure to check out the SecondLife Blogroll) and the #Linden Scripting Language sections. Once you have left Orientation and Help islands, use [[#SLurls]] to go to specific locations in the SLverse quickly. And please remember, this is a wiki, so make edits and additions as you see fit.

Second Life Assignment

Second Life itself

  • Second Life
  • Latest Downloads - has more than just the OS specific downloads
  • Community: Events - One of your first stops after leaving Orientation and Help Islands should be to attend appropriate Education events. (You can access the same list within SL via the "Search" button at the bottom of your SL screen. The SL version has slightly better search and sort features.)
    • Marie highly recommends the "TeaZur U" "BEG1" level classes for anybody who has problems with the tutorials on Help Island and Ivory Tower Library of Primatives' stations.
    • Marie highly recommends the "LSL Boot Camp" (5 days) for anybody with 'minimal' programming experience.
